One question I have though, why does my character drop a skeleton when they get hit? They aren't even holding a skull most of the time. Do they just lose bones every time they take damage
The Mac version appears broken, BUT if you right-click and Show Package Contents, you’ll find the actual, working app inside the broken app. Just be sure to drag it out into a folder, and then you can delete the weird non-app.

Your character has several skeletons, just like in Mortal Kombat.
